Adventure Ministries Summer Recap
“I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”- John 14:6

As I was cleaning up the dehydrator today and watching the trip room become spotless after a summer of youth and adults trekking through with their blue barrels and backpacks, I was able to reflect on the summer of ministry we had through the adventure ministries program.

I thought of how thankful I was for the trip leaders, specialist and food packer who brought their joy and freshness to the program. I remember the stories that they told at each debriefing meeting in the conference room…the funny, serious, and sad. For the countless things that they learned and how God used them as they were out on the river and campsites. They were such a joy to serve along side with this summer!

I also am grateful for the new activities we were able to introduce to the program! For the first time we had a youth group venture to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore for a backpacking trip. This same church was willing to let us use them as guinea pigs on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage doing an adventure canoe race. Lastly, our CFS Mystery Trip took our campers to the Bearskin Trail for biking as well as Black River Harbor for hiking.

It is not only the summer staff and new activities that makes this season so special, but also the campers we are able to serve! We had 563 people out on the river, rocks, and trails. This means that we had 36 separate trips. We are thrilled that three youth asked Christ to be their Savior and many more that committed themselves to reading their Bible consistently or make changes in their life. What a privilege that we, as a team, were able to have conversations with these campers, witness their hearts being softened, and have fun in God’s creation together!
