Wintertainment 2012
Big Air! Animal Ball! Razzleblast!
Those were just a few of the many events at Wintertainment this year. Wintertainment is one of Camp Forest Springs’s oldest and most energetic camps, and this year we had almost 200 high school students and their youth leaders descend upon camp and participate in all of those exciting activities, as well as hanging out in Main Street Cafe, getting to know their counselor, and being challenged by our speaker, Kent Hannestad.

Kent encouraged the campers to consider three things - to guard their hearts, that Jesus came to give them abundant life, and to consider what future will be “reaped” with every decision that is “sowed.”

Proverbs 4:23 tells us to guard our hearts, for it is the wellspring of life. Kent challenged the campers to be aware of what they are consuming, because it affects their hearts. He also showed the campers that Jesus promised in John 10:10 that, in him, was abundant life, and we should be careful when seeking joy and purpose in things other than Jesus, because he is the only way to experience the fullness of life. Finally, Kent reminded us all of the words of Paul in Galatians 6:7 that we reap what we sow, and challenged the campers to consider their current decisions in light of how they might affect their future.

We also had a fantastic time with the different program activities. Wintertainment classics like Animal Ball and Razzleblast (where the guys play soccer while the ladies play football) were, once again, a big hit, as were some of the newer options, like laser tag. We also featured the Slalom and the Big Air at the CFS X-Games again, and the highlight video from that can be seen below.
What did the campers have to say about their experience? Here are a couple comments from their evaluations:
“I LOVE Animal Ball!!”
“I feel so much closer to God after this week!”
“I had a great ski instructor! He was awesome.”
“After this week, I was reminded not to compare myself to others, and that God needs to be #1 in my life.”
We’re already looking forward to the next Wintertainment. Hopefully, we’ll see you there!
