Bighorn Mountains Wyoming Hiking Adult Trip

Bighorn Mountains - Eastern Wyoming August 7-15, 2026

The Bighorn Mountains, part of the Bighorn National Forest and sister range of the Rocky Mountains, are a stunning isolated mountain range with many diverse landscapes. While hiking and exploring, we will have the opportunity to see grasslands, alpine meadows, clear lakes, glacial valleys, rolling hills, and mountain cliffs. Along the way, we will also visit the Black Hills region of South Dakota.

Our trained Forest Springs staff will be there to lead the trip, offering guidance with navigation, food and equipment. We will also plan for daily Bible based devotions and reflection appropriate for the experience.

The trip starts at Forest Springs.

Planned Itinerary:

Friday — Arrive at Forest springs between 6:30 and 7 pm for an orientation, meet the trip members, and pack for the trip.   Overnight housing at Forest Springs.

Saturday — Drive all day to Western South Dakota and spend the night in a hotel along the way.

Sunday — Short drive to the Black Hills area where we will do some day hiking, and spend the night in a local campground.

Monday — Finish the drive to the Bighorn Mountains, set up camp in a campground, and do a short day hike.

Tuesday-Thursday — Do day hikes each day to places within the Bighorn Mountains, staying in campgrounds each night.

Friday — Quiet morning and pack up camp, heading out late morning.   We will drive for approximately half the distance and stay the night in a hotel.

Saturday — Finish the drive back to Forest Springs, returning by midafternoon.
