Buffalo National River Canoe/Hiking Trip

St Joe, Arkansas August 10-17, 2025

With the distinction of being America's First National River established in 1972, the Buffalo National River flows freely for 135 miles and is one of the few remaining undammed rivers in the lower 48 states. Once you arrive, prepare to journey from running rapids to quiet pools while surrounded by massive bluffs as you cruise through the Ozark Mountains down to the White River.

Our trained Forest Springs staff will be there to lead the trip, offering guidance with navigation, food and equipment. We will also plan for daily Bible based devotions and reflection appropriate for the experience.

The trip starts at Forest Springs.

Planned Itinerary:

Sunday - Guests arrive at Forest Springs by 6pm. Orientation and final packing for the trip will happen this evening. Our guests will stay overnight in Forest Springs housing.

Monday - Drive approximately 12 hours and spend the night en route. A southern Wisconsin pick up and drop off option is a possibility.

Tuesday - Wake up early, and finish the short drive to the river. Launch and begin the multi-day river trip

Wednesday - Saturday AM - Enjoy our days by paddling, taking in the amazing views, jump in the river for a swim, hike up a bluff or explore a waterfall! There are many things that each group member will have the opportunity to do and see.

Saturday PM - Drive for several hours and stay the night in a hotel. Hot showers and a restaurant meal top off the evening.

Sunday - Drive the remaining miles back to Forest Springs arriving by late afternoon. After unloading the vehicles our guests will be free to head home.
